How To Turn accessories into successories!

by Guest on June 28, 2013

What are Successories?

Successories are appropriately chosen accessories that successfully convey your unique personality and sense of style.  They can belong to or represent a particular fashion period such as Vintage, Art Deco though in principle are statement pieces that are ageless and elegant. Their scale and design should be in keeping with your proportions and complexion.

Once you learn how to Successorise you will be setting your own trends and will never again be a victim of that sneaky impulse buy!

1. Know yourself and the Successories shall follow…

When styling it is necessary to consider the qualities and quirks unique to you that contribute to your personality. Whatever you wear or display on your body (including piercings and tattoos) tells a unique story about you and it is this individualism that is the motivation behind choosing your Successories. Each item in your wardrobe has its own story to tell also, whether it is a gift, bought whilst on holiday, recycled from a second-hand store, a family heirloom or purchased brand new. When combined as an outfit in a conscious way you start to express yourself and so your own personal style comes to life!  Do you relate to any of the styles below? If you’re unsure, keep reading…

2. Look to your favourite celebrity for inspiration…

If you are having trouble identifying what your unique style is, one easy way of getting you thinking is to look to your favourite idol or celebrity for inspiration. There will be something specific about them that you admire and this becomes your first clue. Let’s use Audrey Hepburn as an example. She is petite and carries a grace and elegance in her style that is unmistakable. The images below show her wearing earrings with three very different outfits.  Notice how they are well proportioned for her features and simple enough to always stay fashionable.

3. Too trendy is often too risky…

Try and stay clear of very obvious trend pieces as these will fade out of style very quickly. When shopping, ensure that your decisions are conscious and considered as this keeps the impulse buys at bay; we all know the havoc they can wreak on a beautifully balanced and functional wardrobe! A successful wardrobe is one that contains items of clothing and Successories that can be worn and re-worn, mixed and matched, cared for and enjoyed for years to come without looking dated and incomplete. So, what do your current accessories say about you? If they don’t say enough – it is time to Successorise!
