Red Heel Day 2015 event wrap-up

by Kasia GosposOctober 20, 2015

Last week, on the 15th October 2015, Leaders in Heels held our inaugural Red Heel Day Sydney event – an annual event that celebrates and promotes female leaders and entrepreneurs. The event is a part of broader campaign, Red Heel Day, run online and offline throughout the month of October.

You can see the event’s highlights in the video sponsored by our friends at Delicatessen Agency.

One of our guests, Diana Ryall, the Managing Director of Xplore for Success, LinkedIn influencer and also speaker at our past event, wrote this beautiful event wrap-up on LinkedIn Pulse.

The Tsunami of Women Leaders

Last night I attended Leaders in Heels’ annual event, Red Heel Day. Kasia Gospos, the leader of this online community, brings passion and authenticity to the fore.

Over 150 women attended from many different industries to hear a line-up of young strong women talking about their views, careers and life in general. It was like a tsunami of the next wave of confident, aspirational young women coming through. This is the group that will move Australia forward.

The speakers spoke on a range of topics such as passion, creativity, leadership styles, entrepreneurship, transferability of skills and personal branding. Anne-Marie Elias capably emceed the evening encouraging the audience to tweet their learnings. (Editor’s note: #RedHeelDay was trending!).

Jules Sebastian (TV presenter, stylist and founder of The Sebastian Foundation) spoke of the importance of mentors – both finding one and being one. She encouraged everyone to champion others.

Ozlem compiled the Unexpected Women book for Xplore for Success in the Goodie Bag – she is a woman of many skills!

Alexandra Mills (CEO of Product at AussieCommerce Group) spoke of moving from professional dance into business, and the lessons and skills that were transferable.

I’m afraid my own heels didn’t reach the heights of others in the room. However, it was an honour to be in the room with so many women who will bring their skills to the future of Australia.

Please like and share, as these women are women to watch!
